Literate for Life is a non-profit organization in order to promote reading with kids at a young age lead by our very own 1st grade teacher Mrs. Hall! :)
Reading to your child gives him/her a TON of advantages in ALL areas for life long success.
Here is Literate for Life's website for more information: http://literateforlife.org/
There is a GREAT blog post about good ol' fairy tales!

Each week, I post a video reading report to encourage the kiddos to read, read, read. I also try to give a mini lesson on reading as well as advertise some new books! Check out this site to view them: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1oL50Afze0xBT1uUKBnAWKzBT3oncICwe
As you can see, we have a new page. I have listed some neat reading websites that you family might be interested in trying at home. If you have any favorites that you would like added because other families may enjoy, please send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org
Happy playing...and reading of course! :)

We made cats and 1 duck in Mrs. Scott's Class!
Same in Mrs. Miller's Class!
Since Quackers didn't pick a duck or cat, neither did Mrs. Newman's class!
And then the staff dressed up! What fun!
Finally, check out our bulletin board! I guess people like cats better! :)

Make sure you are reading 30 minutes daily at home for reading! If you want your child to be a stellar reading, they need to practice! Just like you practice for sports, we have to practice to learn.
Don't forget to log the 15 minute steps of reading you do to get credit!
Make sure you are using Bookshelf. Kindergarten-3rd grade students have a log in and password so that they can read ARC books on a tablet!!!! :)

We love reading, but you need books to read! To help families so that they ALL have access to books, we have a Little Free Library Shelf right by our front office!
At anytime throughout the school day, kids can take a book, leave a book, or trade a book!
As you are cleaning out books at your house, PLEASE bring them in and add to our baskets. And then of course, grab a few new to you books! :)
SPREAD the BOOK LOVE!
